FIG GARDEN FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS EXPANSION – MEASURE N
Dear Resident,
On October 11, 2024, we wrote to inform you about Measure N, a measure regarding the Fig Garden Fire Protection District that will be on the November 5, 2024, ballot in the upcoming general election. As a reminder, Measure N will ask District residents whether or not the size of the District’s Board of Directors should be expanded from three members to five members. To pass, Measure N will require the approval of a majority of the voters residing within the District’s boundaries.
As you may know, the Board of the District can only take action when at least a quorum of the members of the Board are physically present for a meeting. Currently, with a three- member Board, this means that the Bord cannot conduct business if two members are absent from a Board meeting. If the Board is expanded to five members, the Board will still be able to conduct District business if two members are absent.
Because only residents of the District may be members of the Board, adding two additional members to the Board will increase the representation of the residents of the District. Also, because Board members do not receive compensation, this measure should not result in additional cost to the District.
